1.) PEER PASSING DRILL
Stationary Passing Drill
- Place one cone 5 yards away from another cone with the Athlete behind one cone and the Coach behind the other
- Have the Coach and Athlete pass the ball back and forth
- Emphasize stopping the ball before passing it back and using the inside of the foot to pass
2.) PEER DRIBBLING DRILL
- Separate two cones by 10 yards with the Athlete behind one cone and the Coach behind the other
- The Athlete will dribble to the Coach’s cone, stop the ball, and give the ball to the Coach
- The Coach will dribble to the opposite cone, stop the ball, and pass the ball back to the athlete
- Emphasize short kicks that control the ball and stopping the ball with their feet
- Athletes and Coaches can go at same time if Athlete needs the additional support
3.) SHOOTING DRILL- “PASS, PASS, PASS, SHOOT!”
- Athlete and Coach are in two separate lines about 10 yards from the goal
- Moving towards the goal, the Coach will pass to the Athlete, the Athlete will pass back to the Coach, the Coach will pass it back to the Athlete, and the Athlete will shoot on goal
- Emphasize running while passing and shooting on goal
4.) TEAM RELAY CHALLENGE
- Create a square box with a cone on each corner (approximately 5 yards apart)
- Eight players are included in this drill: one Coach and one Athlete on each of the four cones
- The challenge will be to pass the ball back and forth without the ball breaking the box
- Who can get the most? Can everyone get 10 passes? How about 15?
- Emphasize social interaction, passing, and stopping the ball
